Fiji's prime minister says waste management is becoming as critical an issue in the Pacific as climate change.
Frank Bainimarama opened this year's Clean Pacific Roundtable in Suva by saying lack of waste management was a crisis for the ocean.
Vicki Hall, a waste specialist at the Pacific environment agency SPREP, says Mr Bainimarama's concerns were shared by all.
Dr Hall spoke with Dominic Godfrey who asked her how Pacific nations, who produced only one percent of the Pacific's plastic waste, could deal with what was coming from beyond their borders.
