Pharmac is overhauling the criteria for funded prescriptions of a safe sex drug commonly used by gay men.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, can reduce the risk of being infected with HIV by up to 99 percent.
And as Jake McKee reports, it's been welcomed by safe sex advocates, who've for years been pushing for easier access to the drug.
