The South African World Shearing Team

Prior to the 15th World Shearing Championships, held during the Golden Shears in early March, the South African team gathered in the backblocks of Wairarapa to practice. The machine shearers, all Black South Africans, had been in New Zealand for five months. The world class blade shearers only arrived four days before the competition and there was a last minute hitch.
