Mural of soldier reminds Waimate residents of Anzac Day
Waimate residents will commemorate Anzac Day tomorrow under the gaze of a famous New Zealand soldier. One of the town's 35-metre high silos has been painted with a huge mural of Eric Batchelor, a local man who was twice awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for conspicuous bravery during the Second World War. Waimate Transport director Barry Sadler owns the property that the mural is painted on. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
