A Central Otago fruits business which employs several hundred casual workers over the peak summer fruit picking season, has gone into receivership.
Summerfruit Orchards, based near Clyde, grew, packed and exported a number of fruits including cherries, apricots, nectarines and apples. It went into receivership on 5 September.
A director of the company Earnscy Weaver, declined to comment and would not confirm how many permanent staff the company employed.
Receivers, BDO New Zealand, did not respond to Radio New Zealand's requests for information.
