Sections of Buckland Road and Massey Road in Māngere East are closed following a crash.
Police have arrested the driver of a stolen car who fled officers, then clipped another vehicle before crashing into traffic lights and striking a car.
No one was injured and police said they did not pursue the car before it crashed.
A spokesperson said officers saw a stolen vehicle on Buckland Rd that had fled from police earlier in the morning, while driving dangerously on the motorway.
It fled from police again and no pursuit was initiated when it crashed at the intersection of Massey Road.
The driver clipped another vehicle at the intersection of Buckland and Massey roads, colliding with a set of traffic lights before striking another vehicle and coming to a stop.
Police said they were quickly on the scene and one person was taken into custody.
Areas affected are Buckland Rd, between Royton Ave and Graeme Ave, and Massey Rd between Walter St and Buckland Rd.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area or expect diversions.
Bus routes 31, 31 and 36 have detours until further notice.
