Police are investigating, after a person fell from a balcony at an apartment complex on Brooklyn Road in Wellington on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.35pm and the person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Witnesses reported hearing what they believed was a gunshot before the fall, but police said that information had not been confirmed.
Armed officers were sent to the area as a precaution and inquiries continue to determine the circumstances of the incident.
