Accident Compensation Corporation levies paid by employers and all workers will be reduced next year but an across-the-board levy cut for all car owners has been rejected by the Government.
The corporation last week recommended that the motor vehicle levy be cut by at least 5% for all car owners, but that has not been accepted.
ACC Minister Judith Collins said on Monday reductions in workers and earners levies will mean the average New Zealand household can expect to keep just over $200 a year.
Ms Collins says the Government expects to introduce levy cuts for motor vehicle owners from July 2015.
The Government also plans to bring in a safety rating for vehicles which the minister says she would like to see introduced at the same time as levy reductions.
