Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee has announced a board to oversee the transition of the recovery from central to local government.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority will in February next year move from being a government department to an agency within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Mr Brownlee said the advisory board announced today would give local government and the various sectors of Christchurch a voice as the city moved on from the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.
Former Prime Minister Dame Jenny Shipley will chair the board, which includes the district's mayors, iwi, community, and business leaders.
