Alternative folk trio Albi And The Wolves have earned a reputation since forming in 2014 as a hardworking, show-stopping local band. Winners of the Best Folk Artist at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards, this captivating band pride themselves on pushing the limits of what three musicians can do using only an acoustic guitar, electric violin, double bass, and three voices.
Featuring Chris ‘Albi’ Dent (guitar, vocals), Pascal Roggen (violin, vocals), Michael Young (double bass, vocals) the group have developed their sound and built a loyal following playing their own brand of original compositions that has been described as “folk music that someone has tinkered with under the bonnet.”
On the strength of two albums and extensive touring throughout NZ and Australia, Albi And The Wolves have developed a sense of community that follows them everywhere they go and it obviously followed them to the Dell Stage at WOMAD 2020.
Their endearing performance and original compositions won over a new fan base and had them calling for more!
