The title 'Lebensstürme' was added later by a publisher (Anton Diabelli) to this movement of a possible piano duo sonata.
Right from the first notes, the strong and turbulent nature of Schubert's music is clear. Virtuosic scales tumble down like gusts of wind - it's easy to see where Diabelli's fanciful title came from.
