Lass dich nur nichts nicht dauren mit Trauren
Do not be sorrowful or regretful,; be calm, as God has ordained, and thus my will shall be content
There are two canons in this piece by Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), one between the sopranos and tenors, the other between the altos and basses.
Like the best canonic works, it is possible to not even be entirely aware of the relationship between the voices and just to experience beautiful music.
