Kapa haka group Ngā Tūmanako performs at the Auckland Arts Festival's 'Pūmanawa'.
Presented by Shannon Haunui-Thompson.
Ngā Tūmanako are current champions of Te Matatini, Te Toa Whakaihuwaka, after their win in 2019 in Te Whanganui a Tara.
Like Te Rōpū Manutaki, Ngā Tūmanako is based at Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland and named after the wharenui there. They formed in 2004 out of the first wave of graduates of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori at the marae.
Their leaders are the brother and sister duo Kawariki Morgan and Reikura Kahi. Kawariki talks to Shannon in the programme.
