Concert for Animals

From Three to Seven, 6:34 pm on 30 October 2024

The country’s first Concert for Animals will be broadcast nationwide on 5 November to comfort and entertain companion animals and their humans from 6pm until midnight on Guy Fawkes night.

In collaboration with SPCA, RNZ Concert is offering a radio show of music chosen to be gentle for pets during fireworks.

Both organisations are keen to help improve the wellbeing of their communities. We know music is a positive part of many people’s lives, and we know many RNZ Concert listeners have beloved pets. Now we’re completing that circle with the SPCA’s expertise to provide an enjoyable listening experience for people and their furry friends on a night we know can be challenging for both.

We hope thousands of New Zealanders – fur and skin – will settle down and tune in to RNZ Concert on Guy Fawkes night!

Which pieces of classical music put your pet in a calm and positive mood? We're keen for some pet requests, and we'd love to share your favourite pet pics online. Email your Concert for Animals music suggestions and pet pictures to concert @ rnz.co.nz or text us music suggestions to 8824 (texts cost 20 cents) by noon on Monday 4 November.

Listen to RNZ Concert on Tuesday 5 November for Concert for Animals between 6pm and midnight.

Tune in on the radio, or stream us from rnz.co.nz, the RNZ App, SKY TV channel 422, or Freeview Channel 51.
