RNZ Concert's mental health service - it's "Moment of Calm" is back, and "Three to Seven" host Bryan Crump only had to step outside his door to record the first "sonic" moment for 2025.
It's a local Ruru staking out its territory in the bush below Crump's house in Wellington.
In the distance you can hear another Ruru answering back, along with the white noise of the city and the occasional boy racer revving up in the distance, which Crump reckons only adds to the sense of stillness his recording machine caught in the foreground.
Click on the sound file above, and you too can imagine it's a still summer night, even if the lights are still on.
