With the nation just about at "peak gloom" in a meteorological sense, RNZ Concert's Bryan Crump through it was time to remind us Summer still exists.
Going back through his field recordings he found one he made in early January on a Hawkes Bay sheep farm.
There's plenty of bird twitter and even the odd sheep bleat.
So with the shortest day just around the corner, we invite you to listen to this recording made on one of the longest.
