A new classical music festival is coming to Central Lakes in mid-October.
AWE At the World's Edge features three chamber music concerts in Queenstown, Wanaka and Cromwell which track the connection between Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn.
There's also music by the Festival's composer in residence, Salina Fisher (including the world premiere of her work 'Mata-Au' for violin, viola and cello) and an emerging artists programme as well.
It's not the easiest time to launch a new festival with all the performance uncertainties that come with Covid-19 restrictions, but Festival Director Justine Cormack says they were "determined to get it off the ground and out of our imaginations.”
Upbeat recently caught up with Justine and Artistic Director Benjamin Baker.
