The trial gets underway in Fiji today of 16 people accused of sedition.
The suspects are due in the Lautoka High Court for allegedly planning to set up a sovereign Christian state.
They had been arrested two years ago but were later freed on bail.
The 16 include a chief, Ratu Epeli Niudamu, and they all face two charges.
Two of the accused face two additional charges each.
There are several sedition cases pending in Fiji, including one against the Fiji Times.
The maximum sentence for sedition is seven years imprisonment while communal antagonism carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.
