Dr Patrick Ledingham is about to begin a career as a physics lecturer and researcher at the University of Southhampton in the UK.
He is a graduate of Otago University and its Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologies, which is wishing Dr Ledingham' well in what it says is a highly prestigious role.
Dr Ledingham also has Cook Islands whakapapa.
