MPs fought back tears speaking last night, at a special debate in New Zealand's Parliament about the 1970s Dawn Raids.
Setting aside their political differences MPs on both sides of the house condemned the over-stayer crackdown which prosecuted mostly Pasifika, despite two thirds of offenders being from the United States and Britain.
Following a formal government apology earlier this month, the Dawn Raids are now officially in Parliament's records for being a racist policy which should never have happened.
