In 2018, Emily Umu and her mother co-founded 'Te Raraga', a weaving and handicrafts store in Suva, Fiji.
It has gone from strength to strength as the weaving business incorporates both Tuvalu and Kiribati influence, its products have been featured in high profile events such as Fiji Fasion Week.
Emily says that she was recently involved in the launch of digital mobile payment platform DUAPAY - developed in collaboration with Mastercard, Fintech Pacific and international development organisation ygap, in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The mobile payment platform has enabled small business owners in Fiji such as Emily to accept card and digital payments easily and securely on their mobile devices, bringing more people into the digital economy.
