Mark Leishman
Mark Leishman was born and raised in Timaru in the shadow of Maunga Aoraki Mt Cook and between the mighty Awa Rangitata and Waitaki. He now lives north of Auckland in Matakana, beside the Glen Eden River and beneath Mt Tamahunga. He has hosted more than 40 different television and radio shows during his career, ranging from entertainment and quiz shows to news and sport. He has also produced and directed six documentaries. However, it is Mark’s enduring association with the iconic and hugely successful series, Tux Wonder Dogs, that is his signature show. He has been awarded the Variety Club of NZ Scroll of Honour. Mark joined RNZ National as a casual newsreader, and after a stint hosting Nights ahead of Emile Donovan’s appointment, and is now the regular fill-in presenter for Afternoons, The Panel, Nights and Overnights. He finds working on air at RNZ very stimulating and requires all the skills he has learned in the past four decades.
“I love my family and living vicariously through my children's exploits. I also love music, drumming, concerts, audio books, dogs, memories, boats, cars and pop culture. I also get a great deal of pleasure mowing my lawns.”
