Afternoons for Friday 7 March 2025
1:10 A Champion for Champions Day
Tomorrow is one of the biggest days on the New Zealand thoroughbred racing calendar, Champions Day.
It returns to Ellerslie Racecourse in Auckland - there's a plethora of major events with major prize money on the schedule, including the Trackside New Zealand Derby and the Auckland Cup.
However, the 8th of March is also International Women's Day, so it's only right that we talk to one of the leading young women in the sport in this country, Jasmine Fawcett.
Last year Jasmine achieved her 300th victory. She'll be at the big race day tomorrow, but first she's made some time to speak to Jesse.

The theme of International Women's Day takes us to Dunedin now, and an event at the University of Otago.
Dr Tamsin Braisher has been leading a "Wikipedia edit-a-thon" with staff and students today.
So what exactly is an 'edit-a-thon' and what has it got to do with International Women's Day?
Dr Tamsin Braisher joins Jesse to explain.

1:35 The NZ film about Jarvis Cocker and Pulp
It's been ten years since the release of Pulp: a Film about Life, Death & Supermarkets.
Directed by our very own Florian Habicht, this Sunday sees an anniversary screening and Q & A session at Auckland's iconic Hollywood theatre.
Built around their final UK concert in 2012, the film captures their thoughts ... and those of the general public in their native Sheffield, on topics like weird dreams, fame and what their generation should sing in rest homes when they're old.
Jesse talks to Florian about the film and its anniversary.

3:35 Critter of the Week - The magpie moth (Nyctemera annulata)
Moths don’t tend to get the love and attention that their cousins the butterflies do. But not all moths are dusty creatures of the night. The magpie moth (Nyctemera annulata) is a showy black and white moth with a stripey orange and black body that flies during the day.
