From Checkpoint, 5:15 pm on 3 March 2025

The new minister has announced a raft of new measures to try and give the primary care sector a boost with 100 new clinical placements for overseas-trained doctors, and incentives for GP clinics to hire more graduate nurses. The coalition is also putting $285 million extra toward what they're calling an "uplift for general practice" over three years. Minister Simeon Brown made the announcement alongside the Prime Minister at his post cabinet media conference, and said this will help people see a GP faster. Political reporter Lillian Hanly spoke to Leiataualesa Susana Lei'ataua.
