Wellington battered by some of strongest winds in recent history

Flights in and out of the city have been cancelled until at least 6pm, and there have been no interisland ferry crossings today. The wind warning in Wellington has been escalated to red, with officials warning the weather poses a threat to life. Krystal Gibbens has more from the capital.
