Kiwi indie-pop band travels to Seoul in cultural exchange

From Culture 101, 2:20 pm on 21 September 2025

Last month, Christchurch indie-pop band There's A Tuesday went to Seoul in South Korea for a music residency and were accompanied by music journalist, Samantha Cheong. The world has come to know the artistic culture of South Korea, from their vibrant and wide-reaching K-Pop scene, to their K-dramas on streaming services and Oscar-winning films like Parasite. The residency is an opportunity for Kiwi artists to be exposed to the thriving industry in Seoul and learn about the customs, the culture and foster connections. The trip was supported by Big Fan, a non-profit music space for artists in Auckland, Asia New Zealand Foundation and the CJ Cultural Foundation in Seoul. As part of the residency, There's A Tuesday attended a festival, visited Spotify Korea, wrote and performed with a Korean singer-songwriter and visited one of the biggest indie-pop record companies.
