Kāwhia south of Raglan is a key sandy West Coast Harbour in the King Country. It is known as the final resting place of the Tainui ancestral waka and has a rich Māori history as well as hisotrically being the southern most place for kauri and kauri gum. The township of Kāwhia itself is a small palce but also a popular holiday destination.
It is blessed to have its own museum Te Whare Taonga o Kāwhia and for this week's Regional Wrap we're blessed to have on the line the museum's chairperson Kathie Raiwhara.
