What might NZ constitution based on the treaty look like?
A major constitutional korero was held in Auckland over three days this week. Among the speakers was Supreme Court Justice Sir Joe Williams and a host of speakers from around the world including North America, Australia and Asia who brought other indigenous perspectives to the area of constitutional law. One of the main organizers was Associate professor Claire Charters who specializes in indigenous peoples' rights in international and constitutional law at Auckland University. What might a future New Zealand constitution look like with the Treaty of Waitangi at its core?
New drama by writer Sherilee Kahui, Whakaaraara
The Maori and Pasifika writers collective Maranga Mai is launching five new dramas by a group of women writers. Among them is Sherilee Kahui with her new work, Whakaaraara, about a young mother's struggles after having her first child.
