Ngai Tahu Kaiwhakahaere Justin Tipa

Since Ngai Tahu's 1998 Treaty settlement with the Crown worth 170-million dollars it now controls assets worth around two billion dollars, including fisheries, forestry, tourism and property. Last November Justin Tipa was elected Kaiwhakahaere-chair of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu, and still only in his early forties, it marked a generational shift in the iwi's top leadership.
