Canterbury flooding - bridges closed, no detour available
The fallout from Canterbury's torrential rainfall and flooding continues with a crucial bridge in Ashburton now closed. It appears to have slumped and it's being assessed by engineers. Waka Kotahi says no detour is yet available. Other roads and bridges throughout the region have also been ripped apart by the floodwater; and some communities are still evacuated. The Prime Minister, along with the Ministers for agriculture and emergency management, have been in South Canterbury this morning looking at the damage. Reporter Louise Ternouth joins Max Towle from near the bridge in Ashburton.
