230 mill jobs on the line in Tokoroa

Around 230 workers could lose ther jobs if the Kinleith Mill in Tokoroa discontinues paper production next year. Staff were called to a meeting this morning where they were told that manufacturing paper had become unprofitable. Owner company Oji Fibre Solutions says it will permanently shut down the paper machine at the end of June next year, but will continue producing pulp. Charlotte speaks to Ian Farall, who has been employed at the mill since 1986, and works in paper production.
