NZTA checks storm-hit Kaikoura SH1 after 4.8 quake

Bad weather and a 4.8 magnitude earthquake near Kaikoura has prompted safety checks in the region on Thursday morning. State Highway 1 through the South Island township is closed overnight and this morning the re-opening was delayed while checks were carried out. NZTA Network Operations Manager Tresca Forrester says there have been some delays but no damage.
