Local body elections: Pay to vote idea floated
Being paid to vote is one of the ideas put forward as a way to get more people voting in this year's local body elections. Voter turnout for council elections has been falling since the 80s and nationwide in 2016 it was 43 percent. Last night Auckland Council had a panel discussion, that addressed the problem asking: Voting: Why Bother? Jordan Bond went along.
