ACC should change how it handles sexual abuse claims - Greens

From Morning Report, 8:14 am on 18 May 2021

The Green Party is calling for ACC to change the way it deals with sexual abuse claims, following revelations that most abuse survivors fail to complete applications.

Its ACC spokesperson, Jan Logie, says the acceptance rate is shockingly low and proves the system isn't working for survivors.

She spoke to Susie Ferguson.

*This story originally said that only 5% percent of sexual abuse claims did not make it through the ACC system. This data was provided to RNZ by ACC. That data was accurate but did not reflect all claimants who made sensitive claims, as some sexual abuse/assault claims were coded with terms other than 'sexual abuse'. The figures have now been changed.
