Some routine is also returning to Westport with its three main schools welcoming back students tomorrow.
Around 100 homes have been red stickered, another 400 yellow stickered and the clean up is continuing in the town.
Buller District mayor Jamie Cleine says although schools are reopening, Westport has some way to go before it can feel normal again.
He told reporter Anan Zaki that the clean up is going as fast as possible.
