Waka Kotahi is asking people to drive carefully while rain and strong winds batter the Tairāwhiti and Hawke's Bay regions this morning.
Contractors were not called out to any damage overnight, but Waka Kotahi national journey manager Helen Harris told Morning Report those travelling will need to take care and drive slowly.
"Please stay alert for unreported issues. Whilst we haven't been called out people's eyes on the road are really key intelligence for us."
