A Greater Wellington regional councillor who is advocating for a better rail service to and from Wellington, says protestors did themselves a disservice by blocking commuters traveling on State Highway 1 on Wednesday morning.
Penny Gaylor represents the Kapiti Coast at the council table.
She says Kapiti locals want better rail services, and for the government to invest in improvements to the Capital Connection service which would make the commute to Wellington more reliable and more comfortable.
But she says punishing the very people who want those rail improvements for driving to Wellington isn't the way to make it happen.
Gaylor spoke to Guyon Espiner.
