An Auckland prison says a programme led by a former offender is reducing gang membership, and crime behind bars.
The prison Kohuora, also known as Wiri Men's, is working with a former offender to stop a gang breeding ground.
But the Pūwhakamua programme led by former high security prisoner Billy Macfarlane is helping men leave their patches at their door, and recognise whakapapa instead.
