A council study has launched to get Marlborough Sounds residents back on the road.
Access in the district has been limited for months with several roads damaged by heavy rain in August.
Some residents are still being encouraged to use water taxis to reach their properties.
Marlborough District Council's Future Access Study will determine which of the worst-affected roads are prioritised in repair work, and are warning that some might get a lowered level of maintenance.
