Upper Moutere in the Tasman district is in clean up mode this morning after a tornado struck yesterday.
About 50 homes were damaged, a dozen of which had roofs that had partially or completely lifted.
Tasman reporter Samantha Gee is out assessing the damage and talking to residents.
