A group opposed to the transformation of farm land into carbon sinks says the National Party should go further than just banning foreign investment in the practice.
50 Shades of Green was formed in 2019 to raise awareness of the practice.
Its spokesperson Gwyn Jones says more and more farms are being bought and transformed into forests, including two recently on the road where she lives in Wairarapa.
She says the banning of foreign investment won't stop large Kiwi players from buying up farms and planting forests, and National should consider a blanket ban.
