From Morning Report, 8:38 am on 14 August 2023

One New Zealand, which was until recently Vodafone, has been fined a record $3.675 million for misleading consumers under the Fair Trading Act.

The penalty relates to the company's marketing of its FibreX broadband service, which customers believed to be fibre-to-the-home broadband, when it wasn't.

The Commerce Commission is hailing the court victory as a significant win for consumers.
