Parts of the South Island are set to get drenched with a front moving in from the Tasman Sea expected to bring intense downpours and strong winds this week.
There are three orange heavy rain warnings in place for the Westland District, Otago and Fiordland which set to bear the brunt of the rain.
West Coast Emergency Management teams have ramped up as a precaution while the area braces for the deluge.
