A lobby group says there's mounting anecdotal evidence of Maori representing themselves in court because they can't afford a lawyer; Businesses from a largely Maori community in the Bay of Plenty will put local rangatahi in their last year of high school into voluntary work - to prepare them for employment; The Wellington City Council has signed off on the transfer of Taputeranga Island, off the south coast, to Ngati Toa Rangatira; Hundreds of Maori students from universities around the motu will descend in Hamilton to kick-off their annual conference today.
