We pay tribute to the life of British photographer Mick Rock often dubbed "the man who shot the 70s" by delving into the RNZ audio archive all the way to 2005 when Trevor Reekie interviewed Rock about his photo album Moonage Daydream : The life and times of Ziggy Stardust.
Rock, who died on November 18. took the album photos for Syd Barrett’s solo album The Madcap Laughs - the one with the naked girl in the corner and Syd's hand painted floor. Curiously, that photo introduced Rock to Bowie who was a Barrett fan. Rock pretty much hung out as Bowie's official live in photographer and documented his phenomenal creative burst from Hunky Dory through to Ziggy Stardust.
