Michael Rother is a German guitarist and experimental musician, best known for being a member of a couple of influential German bands - In 1971 he was one of the early members of Kraftwerk along with drummer Klaus Dinger before they both worked together again when they re-assembled in 1972 to record the debut album Neu - recorded with the late German producer Conny Plank.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of this ground-breaking Neu album, Trevor Reekie talked to Michael Rother about the band and it's legacy that continues to prevail. Unfortunately due to Rother being on the road with Neu (as well as guesting with Iggy Pop on his recent European tour) the phone line wasn’t the best … but it still makes for a fascinating interview.
