Monarchy NZ discusses King Charles III accession to the throne

Tomorrow, New Zealand will proclaim King Charles III's accession to the throne. First, Cabinet will meet, followed by the Executive Council, and then the Proclamation of Accession ceremony will take place on the steps of Parliament. The chair of Monarchy New Zealand, Dr Sean Palmer, studied the role of the Crown in this country's democracy. He spoke to Midday Report producer Michael Cropp about the ceremonial elements of the transition, and the crucial constitutional role the Crown holds.
