Every Friday, we bring you some of the most interesting events and happenings coming up in Aotearoa this weekend - from the community fairs to the massive concerts.

Tonight we heading to the Capital where Kaibosh Food Rescue is hosting a cooking workshop with a difference. 

On Sunday the food rescue charity is hosting a daytime Disco Soup, bringing people together to  help chop, peel, stir and simmer large pots of soup while a DJ spins some vinyl.

After finding out on the programme last week that New Zealand has native leeches, we were keen to find out more.

And we had several very helpful texters say: 'Hey, there's actually a farm that breeds leeches in New Zealand, for medical purposes, no less! They were featured on Country Life a few years ago.'

Maria Lupton, who co-owns and operates a Waikato leech farm with her husband Robert speaks to Emile Donovan.

11:07 Musical Chairs: Martin Phillipps

Martin Phillips, founder and frontman of illustrious Dunedin band the Chills and one this country's foremost songwriters and musicians, died unexpectedly last Sunday aged 61.

An early proponent of the "Dunedin Sound" The Chills are recognized as one of Aotearoa's finest guitar bands thanks in large to Phillipps' peerless song-writing which produced classics such as 'Pink Frost', 'I Love My Leather Jacket and 'Heavenly Pop Hit.'

There have been international highs well documented personal lows in his life of which he touched on in his first Musical Chairs appearance back in 1998. 

Over twenty years later, with several albums and documentary film about his musical achievements and health scares Martin Phillipps' reflected on his life in music with Yadana Saw in 2021.
