01 July 2012 Sunrise reveals the Pacific Vaka fleet floating on Guadalcanal's Iron Bottom Sound. The Vaka's had sailed from all over Oceania to attend the dawn opening ceremony of the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts in Honiara Solomon Islands.
01 July 2012 A traditional Roviana war canoe charges the shore in a demonstration of the Headhunting practices of the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. These dark canoes propelled by even darker skinned bloodthirsty cannibals blowing deep blasts from conch shell trumpets in time to the heartbeat like stroke of their blade-like paddles would strike terror into the hearts of coastal villagers of pre-christianity Western Solomons.

I took two pictures of this scene one with the prince in focus and the other with the crowd in focus. I prefer this one because it shows how big a deal it was for Solomon Islanders who turned out in the tens of thousands to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. September 2012

2013 World Cup Qualifiers - Solomon Islanders are crazy about football as can be seen from the packed stadium at Lawson Tama in Honiara for this international match between Solomon Islands and Tahiti. Solomons this match won 2-0 but later dorpped out after losing consecutive matches to New Caledonia.
