This week sees the announcement that a fossil penguin discovered in New Zealand is a new species and one of the oldest known; new research suggests countries need to take heed of climate projections when planning how much to rely on wind energy; and researchers have discovered that microbes in Antarctica have a previously unknown ability to scavenge hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from the air to stay alive in the extreme conditions.
